The Irresistible - Luxury Shoe Designer Jimmy Choo
Shivani | Sep 23 2009

Born in the family of shoemakers, Jimmy Choo made his first shoe when he was just 11 years old. At that time no one had an idea that he will be one of the top designer of the world and his clientele will include big-shots like Nicole Kidman, Gwyneth Paltrow and First Lady Michelle Obama.

While Choo was a student of Cordwainers’ Technical College in Hackney, he started doing part time job at restaurants and later at a shoe factory. In 1986 he opened his own workshop. Choo was very talented and soon people started noticing his craftsmanship and designs. Just two years after opening the workshop, his work started coming in light.

Vogue magazine covered eight pages article on his creations. This was the threshold of his success, and Princess of Wales, Diana boosted it further. In 1996, Jimmy Choo co-founded a company called Jimmy Choo Ltd along with Tamara Mellon editor of British Vogue accessories.

Later in 2001 the grand designer sold his 50% stake in the company for £10 million and since then, he is concentrating on the exclusive Couture line of Jimmy Choo Ltd.

His luxury brand has expanded its business to accessories such as handbags. In 2006 he received his Lifetime Achievement Award at Malaysian-International Fashion Week at the Kuala Lumpur for his incredible contribution to the fashion industry.

Now Jimmy Choo is a big name in the field of fashion and style. He has become a hot favorite of celebrities world wide for his elegant, sassy and exquisite designs.
